Why Developers should know testing too!!

And, with all due respect to programmers, I like to think that those applications are thoroughly inspected by professional testers before they hit production.

Friendly tools and apps for testers

Software Testers can use many apps, scripts and tools available to make their life easy and exciting.
A few that I really like are
  1. Jnario:  Test framework for Java focusing on the design and documentation aspects of testing
  2. Plunk is an easy way to test where clicks happen on a mobile phone.
  3. DoneDone – Interesting but  Issue tracker!
  4. Jumble - Java tool for  measuring the effectiveness and coverage of JUnit test suites
  5. Evernote – Helps you manage all types of content, from anywhere.  Easy to add, organise and to search
  6. TestFlight - To help you get your iOS app tested

Outside food not allowed!

Two software testers went into a diner and ordered two drinks. Then they produced sandwiches from their briefcases and started to eat. The owner became quite concerned and marched over and told them, “You cannot eat your own sandwiches in here!”
The testers looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and then exchanged sandwiches.

Developers Vs Testers

Light Bulb
Question: How many testers does it take to change a light bulb?
Answer: None. Testers do not fix problems; they just find them.
Question: How many programmers does it take to change a light bulb?
Answer: What’s the problem? The bulb at my desk works fine!

A very old joke on Testing

You probably have heard it/ But then you may not have :)

The Engineering Director of a software company proudly announced that a flight software developed by the company was installed in an airplane and Jet Airways was offering free first flights to the Engineering members of the company. “Who are interested?” the Director asked. Nobody came forward. Finally, one person volunteered. The brave Software Tester stated, “I will do it. I know that the airplane will not be able to take off.”

Software Testing Myths & Misconceptions

Some Testing misconceptions that even senior business and engineering people have!

Myth: Initiating testing activities earlier in the development cycle increases delivery time while reducing the number of features in the product.

Myth: You can't test if you don't have a product to test.

Myth: It's not a bug -- the feature is working as designed.
Myth: Continually regressing everything every time we change code is tedious and time consuming…but, in an ideal world, it should be done.
Myth: A tester's only task is to find bugs.
Myth: We don't have enough resources or time to fully test the product.
Myth: Testing should take place in a controlled environment.
